2017 Region 1 Northeast CotY Award Winner, Residential Kitchen $30,000 to $60,000
The need to fix broken waste lines under the floor motivated the homeowners to remodel the kitchen at the same time. Since the house was built on a slab, the floor and slab had to be removed to replace the waistline from the laundry, the kitchen and the half bathroom off the kitchen area. The homeowners opted to update the kitchen at the same time because the original cabinets were falling apart and installed at the wrong height. In addition, the space had no room to properly fit appliances. To extend the new cabinets to the ceiling, the existing soffit was eliminated, the plumbing pipes were replaced and the waistline to the second floor was rerouted. Energy-efficient LED-lights and appliances, light maple cabinets and granite countertops complete the space.
