2022 Regional CotY Award Winner, Residential Addition Over $250,000

The layout of this 2,300-square-foot home segregated the kitchen, living room and formal dining spaces, making it a challenge to entertain and socialize. The homeowners wanted to create an open floor plan, giving their teenage son plenty of space to enjoy time with family and friends before leaving the nest for college. The cramped 1970s kitchen was a major focus of the remodel. About 200 square feet was added to enlarge the space to add an island, high ceilings and ample lighting. Melding the couple’s differing aesthetic styles was a design challenge that resulted in a Modern Craftsman style with universal appeal.
