The Levi Hartong Farm is a 19th Century farmstead whose barn was in major disrepair. The roof and structure were falling apart and outdated. Due diligence was needed to complete the project in a timely manner. Due to the historic nature of the building, the new roof had to resemble the existing roof in look and color. This project consisted of four phases: removing the existing slate; removing and replacing roof decking and repairing structural issues; replacing the gutters, downspouts and conductor boxes; and installing a composite synthetic roof. Planning was required to lay out the slate, since the year “1883” had to be placed in the center of the roof.
