2019 National CotY Award Winner, Universal Design - Entire House
This retired couple’s home was built with a minimalist universal design. The exterior balances contrasting materials and horizontal shapes for a compelling curb appeal that includes an entry ramp for future accessibility needs. The open living, dining and kitchen areas are easy to navigate. The kitchen integrates extra appliances, an option for aging-in-place with live-in help. A downstairs bedroom allows for one level living while an elevator provides an alternate mobility method. The master suite with a kitchenette is ideal when travelling between levels may be inconvenient. The master bathroom’s open curbless shower and curved tub provide accessibility. This strategic design enhances the clients’ lifestyle today and in the future.
