2018 Regional CotY Award Winner, Residential Kitchen Over $150,000
This beachfront, ocean view home was originally built in 2007 by the current owners. However, as new home construction generally goes, quick decisions were made by the builder without thinking through kitchen area aesthetics, layout, or work zone functionality. As cooking and entertaining enthusiasts, both homeowners needed a place to show off their craft while keeping guests out of the kitchen’s work zones. Relocating the refrigerator, microwave oven and sinks improved the work triangle. A second island bar area was added to serve cocktails and provide a buffer to the kitchen. Objects collected from a lifetime of world travel and familiar Northwest coastal colors and textures also played a part in the aesthetic of this project.
