This project was a complete ‘back to the bricks’ renovation of a 4,000-square-foot apartment at the 1906 Beaux Arts’ Wendell Mansions Coop in the Kalorama neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The objective was to bring the apartment up-to-date for modern living while preserving and referencing the original apartment features. The comprehensive re-design needed to meet the client’s desire for a contemporary aesthetic that respected the historical nature of the building and apartment. The renovation included plaster repair, custom millwork, new windows, HVAC, complete renewal of all finishes, and the reinstatement and reconfiguration of the original layout.
