Chapel Hill, North Carolina
2025 Regional RotY Award Winner, Residential Historical Renovation/ Restoration $250,000 and Over
Originally completed in 1841 on two acres in a historic town, this dilapidated house, with rotting columns and a collapsed ceiling, now welcomes nearly 300 visitors daily. During the height of Covid, remodeling began under the watchful eye of a historic preservation society. The goal was to restore warmth, welcome, and hospitality for students from a nearby campus. Objectives included restoring six fireplaces and chimneys, replicating trim details, custom columns, a cedar and standing seam metal roof, and new bathrooms, floors, and an expansive kitchen.
