2025 Regional RotY Award Winner, Residential Historical Renovation/ Restoration Under $250,000
The original 1942 bathroom had deteriorated due to deferred maintenance, with only the window and toilet paper holder remaining intact. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's Monona Terrace, the remodel faced obstacles and design limitations that prevented certain modifications. Despite challenges, materials were sourced to match the vision, including custom tiles, a round recessed medicine cabinet, a reduced-depth vanity, and a round semi-recessed sink. Universal design principles were incorporated to support aging-in-place features where possible. This remodel balances functionality, aesthetics, and accessibility, integrating Wright-inspired details while addressing the client's specific needs.
