Quakertown, Pennsylvania
2025 Regional RotY Award Winner, Residential Detached Structure
A charming, renovated estate, originally a one-room schoolhouse, was overshadowed by a ramshackle, ivy-covered garage. Although still needed by the homeowner, the garage lacked easy access and curb appeal with its opening facing the road. The goal was for the structure to complement the property, looking as though it had always been there. Renovation involved touching all surfaces of the block structure. The garage entrance shifted to the side, as did the driveway. The exterior received cedar siding, stone, reclaimed brick, and hand-forged hardware. Once an eyesore, it now stands with unmatched uniqueness.
