2020 National CotY Award Winner, Universal Design - Bath
Numerous Universal Design elements were incorporated in the complete remodel of this first floor bathroom for safe and aesthetically-pleasing access. The challenging space, limited by the load-bearing walls and the foundation, was redesigned as a wet-room with floor-to-ceiling tile and an accessible walk-in/roll-in shower with abundant grab bars and stability points. Adding a pocket door for access to the adjoining bedroom allowed the teenage client with Cerebral Palsy to stay in her forever home with no future modifications needed. The final result was a beautiful, completely accessible and visitable bathroom, befitting this upscale home.
