Chanhassen, Minnesota
2019 Regional CotY Award Winner, Residential Kitchen $60,001 to $100,000
These empty-nesters downsized from their suburban home to a 1920s home in Minneapolis so they could walk to shops, restaurants and parks. The original kitchen included a penisula that divided the room into two spaces, low ceilings and soffits. The clients wished for an up-to-date, functional and beautiful kitchen to fit their lifestyle. To achieve this, new appliances, white quartz countertops, wood flooring, and cabinetry in a mix of warm rustic knotty alder and white were added for contrast and warmth. Knotty alder floating shelves, a brick veneer backsplash over the serving area, and white subway tile accent the adjacent cabinetry, while the movable island includes a custom made maple end grain butcher block countertop.
