2018 Regional CotY Award Winner, Residential Kitchen $100,001 to $150,000
The clients desired a transitional kitchen with an open feeling. Their old kitchen lacked storage, functionality, and seating, plus felt cramped. To open the space, the ceilings, kitchen walls, soffit and columns were removed. Challenges included repairing a bowed beam and a split beam. To correct this, a glulam beam and a 6”x10”x16” beam were installed at the pantry area. The HVAC was left exposed and wooden beams incorporated to create coziness and fill in the vast ceiling space. The appliances and plumbing fixtures were also relocated to create a functional workflow. A navy blue color island was included for storage and adds interest to the kitchen design, which includes winter brown color cabinets.
