2017 Region 2 Southeast CotY Award Winner, Residential Kitchen Under $30,000
The original kitchen had poor lighting. To address the issue and create a more open feel, the wall between the dining room and kitchen was removed. A new beam now supports the load bearing wall between the two spaces. The owner, who is the head of a sustainability nonprofit, requested the reuse of materials. Though the project did not include reused timbers, locally sourced lumber was used for the new beam, columns and open shelving in the kitchen.
