Portland, Oregon
2020 National/Regional CotY Award Winner, Residential Interior Element $30,000 and Over
This house was designed for pioneering Northwest Horticulturist Louis G. Pfunder by the prominent and prolific Portland Architect Emil Schacht. The client wanted to restore the severely deteriorated 115-year-old gothic stairwell stained glass windows. The project scope included carefully removing the 12 stained glass windows, cleaning all interior wood surfaces and removing extensive shellac and paint on all related woodwork, replacing all leaded glass caming and associated putty, along with a number of broken and cracked glass panes, and the faithful reproduction of wood elements. The restored windows feature an improved leaded glass design to prevent future armature sagging and a new ultralight protection finish.
