When downsizing, the homeowner wanted to combine the comforts of a single-family home with the luxuries of condo living. Open-concept condo living was achieved with a renovation that created a kitchen great room. The challenge in this renovation was the concrete floors and ceilings. Creative solutions were used to relocate plumbing, gas and ventilation. Removing the wall that separated the kitchen from the rest of the condo and absorbing space from an adjacent den remedied the awkward kitchen layout. Features include smokey grey hardwood flooring throughout, quartz countertops and backsplash in the kitchen, a large island and additional storage. The homeowner now has an open-concept kitchen great room for her new condo.
