The master bathroom in this home is only about 49 square feet. The homeowner did not want to increase the footprint, but she did want to live large. Considering the average master bathroom is 160 square feet, this was a real challenge. Mold growing on the ceiling and walls around the old bathtub was a turn-off and a health concern, and the lighting was awful. The homeowner wanted the remodeled space to compliment her historic home but to also have a modern sensibility. Converting the old tub into a fabulous barrier free shower made the space feel bigger. Adding mosaic tile on the bathroom floor helped visually expanded the space as well.
