2021 Regional CotY Award Winner, Residential Historical Renovation/ Restoration Under $250,000
This project began with the most challenging step: the complete removal of all poorly-adhered previous paint layers on this 1924 home. On the front porch, 80% of the siding was removed and replaced, the front stair reframed, and new trim on existing columns and pedestals added. The project processes used on the house were matched on the residence’s detached two-car garage. The roof and gable-end barge boards on the garage were also replaced. Two coats of slow-drying oil-based primer were then hand-brushed over all the sanded surfaces on the residence, while filling holes and cracks between coats, before painting the home. These processes will ensure the integrity of the home’s structure for the future.
