2019 Regional CotY Award Winner, Residential Historical Renovation/ Restoration Under $250,000
This 8,000-square-foot 1929-built historical mansion had to sleep three generations. This renovation created two equal-bedrooms with walk-in-closets and a compartmentalized bathroom to share. The bedrooms boast plenty of natural light, recessed and decorative lighting, and immediate bathroom access. Relocating a hallway shortened the commute to that part of the home. Adding another second-floor laundry in the central hall’s cedar closet lightens the load. Working with a single zone boiler, ensuring structural security and capturing an attic’s half-moon window required attention to detail. Using 1927 architect’s blueprints, all trim-work was hand-milled, flooring and doors were reused and matching hardware found. Exceptional craftsmanship resulted in a perfect girls wing.
