2019 National CotY Award Winner, Residential Bath $75,001 to $100,000
The owners of this 100-year-old farmhouse lacked a master bathroom on the second floor. They desired to turn the second story outdoor brick balcony off their master bedroom into their bathroom. Challenges met include converting the balcony area into an interior bathroom, blending in the crumbling brick façade to the existing façade, and finding creative solutions for the plumbing. The result is a contemporary style bathroom with a farmhouse feel. Glossy white subway tile set in a herringbone pattern on the wall juxtapose the existing horizontal brick wall, while hexagon floor tile adds contrast in color, size and texture. The space includes a zero-clearance walk-in shower and a wood vanity with vintage nickel finishes.
