2020 Regional CotY Award Winner, Residential Addition Over $250,000
This project added a third-story addition to a two-and-a-half story, 4,300 square foot single-family home in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago. It also addressed major racking issues that impacted the building’s structure. The exterior work, including the structural reinforcement, was the most critical and demanding element of the project. The steel X-brace system installed on the building’s exterior required close collaboration between the structural engineer, steel fabricator and contractor. The final product was a structural and aesthetic success; the addition now seamlessly blends with the contemporary style of the main building.
