These homeowners were willing to exchange some of their existing backyard space for additional indoor living space to construct this a three-story addition by right and without requiring a zoning variance. Removing the existing two-story addition on the rear of their property allowed for this. The three-story addition added a breakfast/multipurpose area on the first floor; enlarged square footage and provided additional closet space in the second floor bedroom and created hall storage; and added another bedroom/office space and more storage on the third floor. The addition was topped with a new roof deck to compensate for the loss of yard space.
