2017 Region 1 Northeast Landscape Design/Outdoor Living Under $60,000
This project consisted of constructing a rooftop deck on a four-story walk-up. The decking surface consists of 24-inch by 24-inch deck tiles made with Ipe-species Brazilian hardwood set upon adjustable-height pedestals, enabling a true and level surface. The sub-surface, which is the rooftop, is sloped for rainwater management. The perimeter is enclosed by a six-foot high privacy fence at the sides, and a four-foot high fence with a top shelf for plants, or beverages. The fence was made from one-inch by six-foot Ipe planks, and finished with a natural oil-based stain. Slider doors replaced two windows and now serve as the main entry to the deck.
