This family was tired of the chaos. They wanted to turn their dim basement into a simple, sturdy, bright space for guests of all ages. Linear designs and horizontal lines in the beds, ladders and even the tile, guide the eyes through the space, uniting the rooms and elements and further erasing the cavernous feel some basements can have. The aesthetic is subtle nautical. The guest bedroom sleeps eight. The bathroom now includes a double vanity and walk-in shower. While it still works beautifully as a kid’s bunk room, the basement renovation brings in a more sophisticated presence to the guest room.
