These homeowners live in a 1930s period home with thick stone exterior walls and small cramped rooms. The challenge was to make a functional kitchen, laundry, and mudroom entry within 384 square feet. With this renovation, the homeowners wanted to improve aesthetics, comfort, flow and functionality. By removing the wall between the kitchen and adjacent dining room, a brighter more usable space for working, cooking and entertaining emerged. Relocating the doorway into the laundry room and adding a unique dog wash also produced a more functional family hub. Large format tile throughout the space, along with the use of natural woods, metals such as copper, iron and stainless steel, restoration glass, and painted finishes tie the areas together.
